The Teaching@Chicago Conference hosted by the Chicago Center for Teaching is designed to orient new teaching assistants to the culture, structure, elements, and practices of teaching at the University of Chicago. This year, Teaching@Chicago will take place on Wednesday, September 25 from 8:30 am to 2:15 pm, and will include presentations and group discussions addressing inclusive and student-centered teaching, information about student resources, discipline-specific pedagogy, and the undergraduate experience. See this year’s agenda below.

All new graduate student instructors are invited to attend, as is anyone else seeking an orientation to teaching in the College. Overall, our goal is to introduce new teachers in the College to the people, resources, and key practices and concepts in teaching and learning, that will make your first UChicago teaching experience more successful!

Lunch as well as light breakfast, coffee, and tea provided. Please indicate any dietary needs during registration.

Organized by

The Chicago Center for Teaching (CCT) supports the University’s diverse community of instructors--graduate students, postdocs, and faculty members--in developing their teaching practices with the goal of enhancing student learning across campus. CCT programs are not open to the public and are only available to affiliates of the Univeristy of Chicago. We are committed to the idea that effective teaching begins with an instructor’s intentions and expectations for their students. Toward that end, we encourage the use of pedagogical practices that are based in scholarly literature on teaching and learning and foster dialogue and reflection on effective teaching through workshops, seminars, individual consultations, and other programs and activities. Our aim is to promote teaching as a scholarly practice that is integral to the University’s values.
